Dudhope Young Peoples Inpatient Unit, NHS Scotland
The YPU is a 12-bedded hospital for young people within the North of Scotland catchment area. The YPU is situated within the NHS Tayside locality however young people admitted to the unit may be from the Tayside, Grampian, Highland (excluding Argyll & Bute), Orkney or Shetland areas.
Our Decider Skills Journey
Our young people and staff created this poster collecting all the feedback before the start of changes to Decider Group.
Young people used 'The Lifejacket Metaphor' and using tissue paper created small rocks running beside the river and small rocky islands.
This represents the YPU making them feel safe with all the nurses, doctors, therapists and family/carers learning the Decider Skills.
We placed ‘Lifejackets’ where Decider Skills have been learned and used. The sail boat represents the YPU sailing through life with the Decider Skills help.
Lot of positive feedback from young people, families and staff about how the Decider Skills have been used to help in real life situations
