The Decider 12 Life Skills online training

The Decider Life Skills are 12 effective and memorable CBT and DBT skills, primarily used for proactive mental health.  (They are 12 of the original 32 Skills aimed at those with mental health problems).

What is The Decider 12 Life Skills Training?

The Decider Life Skills teach children, young people and adults the skills to help them recognise their own thoughts, feelings and behaviours, allowing them to monitor and manage their own emotions and mental health.

The Decider Life Skills online training is for individuals who want to teach their students or clients (of all ages) the skills as part of their professional or voluntary role.  No formal qualifications are required.

The course includes:

  • The Decider Life Skills online training portal for three months (Extensions are available for purchase here)
  • The Decider Life Skills Manual
  • The Decider Life Skills online resources
  • Multiple choice assessment
  • Course completion certificate after successful completion (CPD 7 hours) 
  • 6 weeks of email consultation following course completion

The online training will take approximately 7.5 hours study to complete when using the core videos - there are also supplementary videos which would lengthen the time a little.

Information for individuals purchasing training for themselves

You will have 3 months' access to the online training from the day we set up your account.  You can choose this date. You might prefer to receive your manual first, although all relevant content is included online.

You must complete the online training and download your Certificate of Completion before your expiry date.  You will receive automated reminder emails when you have 30, 14 and 7 days access remaining. If you do not complete the training within 3 months, you can purchase a 1 month extension.

The online training enables you to teach The Decider 12 Skills to your clients.  You are not able to teach others (including colleagues) to teach the skills.

Information for managers/organisations ordering multiple places

The online training programme includes a manual for each delegate and 3 months of 24/7 access from the date we activate their accounts. Each delegate receives an email with their personal login details, along with automated reminders when they have 30, 14 and 7 days of access remaining.

We encourage managers to support staff by allocating dedicated study time and nominating only those who are committed to completing the training. Access cannot be extended beyond the 3‑month period unless an extension is purchased. Delegates should be reminded to download their Certificate of Completion before their account expires and to share a copy with you.

We can activate online training accounts on any date you choose. You may start all delegates together (each still receives their own 3‑month access period) or release smaller groups as needed. We can also hold places for up to 3 years.

Account exchanges

If an online training account has not been accessed by an individual at all, please email us to request a transfer of the account to another member of staff.  We will then confirm whether an account is able to be transferred. 

The conditions for whether an account can be transferred are:

    • Account has not been accessed
    • The account is still active (expiry date not yet reached)
