These Decider Videos were made by South Glos CAMHS Clinicians who decided to try and provide an online group during the covid crisis where we were unable to see young people in person. We were very fortunate in finding that one of our colleagues’ partners was a camera operative who had some time on his hands, and he agreed to film and edit the videos for free. We count ourselves very lucky to have found Will Wilkinson, he brought along his camera man friend Jacob and all the specialist lights, cameras, microphones and a wealth of experience which made us all feel relaxed and looked after during the filming. We were originally going to film the skills on our phones, and we cannot express enough thanks to Will and Jacob for the marvellous job they did.
South Glos CAMHS ran three Decider groups last year with good attendance and outcomes.
We were about to run the next group when covid struck. We have begun our online group and are receiving positive feedback from the young people about our videos.
The format is that we introduce the skill then show the video and ask the young people for comments and questions. We invite the youngsters to use Skype messaging for questions, this allows us to assure them that they cannot be seen or heard, and this has encouraged very anxious youngsters to attend.
Carol and Michelle have kindly offered to have the videos available on the Decider website and we are delighted with this as the youngsters who attend the group ask how they can view the videos again and they will be able to watch them here.
The South Glos Decider Group Clinicians you will see in the video are Jon Nommeots Nomm and Kevin Henderson doing the main presenting. Other starring roles played by Dr Dominique Clancy, Doug Binfield, Rosanna Heaney and a rather scary Clown cameo by our Team Manager Peter Spavin. Lucy Quandil did the Art and Will Wilkinson and Jacob were camera operatives, Will was director, producer and editor.
