STUDY: Improving emotion regulation and communication for children: A pre-post trial of a school-based approach

Evidence suggesting increased mental health and wellbeing problems with children gives a rationale for developing and delivering proactive interventions. The Decider Skills is a framework that aims to teach children skills to manage their emotions and wellbeing. This study looked at whether students who participate in the programme as a whole-school approach would demonstrate an increased ability to recognise and better manage their emotions as rated by themselves, their parents, and their teachers.

TESTIMONIAL: Le Rocquier School, Jersey

"We enjoy using the amazing Decider Skills in our ELSA sessions always as they are very useful to reach secondary students in their scenarios to empower them to cope. I have also used students of a whole class to act out the skills for each other in year 7. It was great fun and a big win on the feedback forms. We were able to get counselling sorted for a student that reached out for help on the feedback form - for this reason I want you to know how incorporating the Decider Skills in our ELSA work is helpful to students and adults alike, so thank you. Thank you for all the good you enable."
